The Queensland flood appeal
We have been dealing with a major disaster here in Queensland with 75% of the state being effected by devastating floods - including the state's capital, Brisbane. We have seen tragic deaths, people are still missing and countless homes and businesses have been destroyed. It is being estimated that it will take up to two years for the state to rebuild. As you can imagine, donations are desperately needed. If you have any coin to spare, click here to donate to the Flood Relief Appeal.
You can also donate to the RSPCA to help the multitude of animals who have been left injured and homeless in the flood crisis.
Our friends without a voice
Many people turn away at the site of yet another harrowing animal welfare clip, but I assure you that this one is worth watching. It has a happy ending. The compassionate folk at Edgar's Mission rescued three bobby calves, Robin Hood, Little John and Maid Marian just in time to spare their lives. As you can see in this clip, the baby cows were seriously malnourished and barely able to walk when Edgar's took them in. They were deprived of their mother's milk – the very thing babies need to survive. Edgar's Mission has just released a new video to raise awareness about the dairy industry and the new legislation they want to pass to allow calves to have no access to milk for the last 30 hours of their lives. They need your help to put a stop to this. Watch the clip, then click here to see what you can do to help. Comments from the public are being accepted until 3rd February.
Positive affirmation for the day: Today I will take some time to do something to help someone else. Being of service is the rent I pay to live in this world.
